Frequently Asked Questions

Check out some of our commonly asked questions.

Are drains really that important?

Unfortunately yes! As drains are most in our walls and the ground surrounding the property, we are unable to see when there is a problem arising. Therefore by having regular visits we can prevent this from occurring and again avoiding unnecessary costs.

Can you survey my gutters?

We can use our pole mounted camera system to inspect gutters too, so if you need a gutter survey or to identify a problem we can help.

Does drain tracing dye stain?

Drain dye is environmentally friendly, and will not stain so they are safe to use within your household, so if we need to use them in your toilet our basin they just wash away.

How can a CCTV camera help when my drain is blocked?

We can quickly locate the problem without a need to excavate your drains, reducing the mess by locating the exact problem.

How do I book an appointment?

You can schedule your twice yearly gutter clean appointment in advance to ensure you don’t forget, or if you have just noticed a blocked down pipe, vegetation growing, or water overflowing, we are happy to attend. It’s easy just call, email or message.

How do I pay?

We accept payment via bank transfer, debit card or Cheque.

How Long Does a CCTV Survey Take?

All we need is access to your drain which is typically found outside. The entire process takes approximately an hour, and we very rarely need to venture inside your property at all.

How long will your visit take?

Our average domestic visit often takes around an hour, of course this can vary depending on property size etc but we will do our best to give you an estimate when you get in touch.

How much will this cost?

As this varies based on your needs and property size, please feel free to contact us (link to contact page) for any of your queries.

How will I know if my drains are blocked?

The 3 S’ Sight, Sound or Smell are a good indicator that something is wrong.

  • Is your toilet water rising, or your bath water draining slowly?
  • Have you noticed your toilet water rising?
  • Your bath water draining slowly?
  • The kitchen sink is not draining at all?
  • Flooding in your garden?

  • Do you hear your bathroom or kitchen sink gurgling?
  • Do any of my pipe noises sound different?
  • Does your shower drain sound different?

  • Is there a bad smell coming from your kitchen sink
  • Do you catch a whiff when in your garden?
  • Is there an unpleasant smell when you run your taps ?

These are all signs you could have a drainage emergency on your hand.

Is it a messy job?

All our operatives make sure that no mess is left behind, we will place the debris in your green bin for recycling, or take it with us if needed.

Should I try and clear the blockage myself?

Sometimes a blockage is a simple one, that can be rectified with a sink plunger, or simply pouring boiling hot water down.

Another great method is by mixing baking soda with vinegar and pouring boiling hot water into the drain.

Please don’t use drain cleaning chemicals including sulphuric acid as they are extremely dangerous, not only do they cause injuries to our operatives, but are very harmful to the environment. If you have used these products prior to our arrival, it’s very important you let us know.

What happens if it’s a frequent drain or sewer blockage?

Unfortunately the largest amount of your drainage system is hidden in the walls or underground, making it hard to notice if you have an issue. Fortunately, we have 2 drainage CCTV cameras designed to help discover any underlying issues you may have. We would recommend a CCTV survey to identify the problem causing the recurring drain blockage.

Why are pre planned cctv surveys so beneficial?

We will be able to spot any cracks, displaced joints and root ingress that are occurring before they become an emergency. We will also be able to locate any potential blockages before they occur, which could prevent an expensive emergency call out or repair.

Do you have an emergency or need our services urgently? We have you covered.

Firstly don’t panic, just call, email or text message, and we will give you the time of our expected arrival. We will be there when you need us.
